What Is a Liposomal Softgel?
A liposomal softgel wraps the active ingredient in liposomes — microscopic spheres built from phospholipids, the same material as human cell membranes — and seals that delivery system inside a softgel capsule. The result is a premium product format that protects sensitive ingredients and improves how much of them the body actually absorbs.
- Superior bioavailability. Liposomes protect actives from stomach acid and digestive enzymes, allowing significantly higher absorption than standard forms, so more of the nutrient reaches the bloodstream and cells.
- Protection and stability. The phospholipid bilayer shields sensitive compounds such as vitamin C, curcumin and glutathione from the harsh gastrointestinal environment, improving stability and shelf life.
- Efficient cellular uptake. Because liposomes are made from phospholipids similar to cell membranes, they fuse easily with cells, transporting both water-soluble and fat-soluble ingredients.
Why Brands Choose Liposomal
When your product uses liposomal delivery and your competitor's doesn't, the clinical story sells itself. Liposomal formats command premium positioning and premium price points, and they give your marketing team a genuine, formulation-level point of difference instead of another label claim.
The Problem: Almost Nobody Makes These at Accessible Minimums
Very few contract manufacturers can run liposomal softgels at any scale, and the ones that can typically reserve the capability for very large orders. Emerging and mid-size brands are usually told the minimums start in the hundreds of thousands of units.
Our Approach
American Softgels built its operation around brands ordering under 250K units. We run liposomal softgels at R&D pilot batches as low as 10K units and production batches from 50K units, with turnaround as low as 2–4 weeks. Your formula gets the same attention whether you order 50K or a million-plus softgels.
End-to-End, Under One Roof
- Custom formulation and R&D — bring your formula or develop one with our in-house lab team, from benchtop through pilot encapsulation runs.
- Softgel encapsulation — precision-engineered capsules across a wide range of fill weights, shapes and shell compositions.
- Turn-key labeling, bottling and fulfillment — go from formula to shelf-ready product without managing multiple vendors.
- Quality and compliance — FDA-registered, cGMP-certified facility with rigorous in-house testing. Every batch documented, all materials traceable.
Made in America
Every batch is manufactured at our facility in Loyalhanna, Pennsylvania. Working with a domestic manufacturer means shorter shipping lanes, easier audits and plant visits, and one accountable team on one site — not a brokered supply chain.
